Who gives to community foundations?
All kinds of people! For many different reasons, to honour the community they call home, to remember a loved one, to support an area of interest such as children or the environment or to create a challenge for their employees to get involved.
Some donors chose to give a one time gift. While other donors establish a named fund with a specific commitment over time. That fund is then built up typically with yearly contributions. To see a list of our amazing community foundation fund donors click here, donors.
What is extraordinary about the Foundation is that we can accept a variety of gifts such as cash, real estate, stock, artwork and insurance. Donors can chose to support their home town broadly or designate a favorite cause or charity. Flexibility is key. Community foundations provide many services to donors to help them make the most of their charitable gifts.
Other Non-profits
Many charities also place their endowment funds with community foundations in order to benefit from greater returns on their investments. These are referred to as agency funds where we provide the investment expertise to maximize the investments of other organizations. Those funds flow through our organization to provide income to the charities.
