The Campbell River Community Foundation is proud to announce the 1st annual “Foundation Vision Award” recipients. We are pleased to recognize the contributions of Dave “Scotty” Maclaren , and former Mayor Robert “Bob” Ostler, posthumously presented to his wife Morgan Ostler.
Scotty Maclaren is a long-time friend of the Foundation. His vision was to create a top quality golf tournament that would fundraise each year for the Foundation. As tournament Chair, he lead the start-up and growth of the tournament for the past 7 years. Each year this tournament raised ten’s of thousands of dollars for the Foundation’s endowment. It also significantly raised the profile of the Foundation in the community. The tournament continues each May built on the strong awareness that Scotty created in the business community and with golfers.
Bob Ostler was a visionary. During his time on City council, Bob took the initiative to better understand the importance of a foundation as a contributor to a healthy sustainable community. Mayor Ostler and Council agreed, then set aside seed funding for a new Campbell River Community Foundation. His early support, along with other community leaders, lead to the formation of this non-profit society in April of 1997.
The Foundation honours the contribution of these two individuals and looks forward to recognizing many others who have made a difference.
