Claire graduated from U of Manitoba Law School and practiced law in Vancouver and Campbell River until retiring at the end of 2014. Her focus was in the area of Family Law.
Claire was elected to Campbell River City Council in 2008 and served until 2014, during which time she held the following positions:
- City representative to the Strathcona Regional District, the Comox-Strathcona Solid Waste Board and the Comox-Strathcona Regional Hospital Board
- Chair of Comox-Strathcona Regional Hospital board for three years
- Director-at-Large AVICC
- Director-at-Large UBCM (Union of BC Municipalities)
- Third Vice-President and then Second VicePresident UBCM
Claire was elected again to City Council in the November 2018 municipal election.
Claire served on the Board of Governors of Vancouver Island University from 2015 – 2018 and she currently serves on the Board of Directors of Island Health and the Willow Point Supportive Housing Society.
Claire believes that the Campbell River Community Foundation plays a unique and significant role in the City because it serves to connect people who want to donate to a worthy cause with non-profit organizations which can benefit from those donations.
